Course Description

The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course is for healthcare providers working in emergency treatment, intensive care or critical care, and other professionals who may need to respond to adult emergencies. For entry into this class, it is highly recommended that students be proficient with CPR, AED's, EKG interpretation, and pharmacology.

Audience:

Physicians, PA's, Nurse practitioners, Nurses, EMS personnel, and Respiratory Therapists.

This course emphasizes the:

• Importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival
• Integration of effective basic life support with ACLS interventions
• Importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation.

The course includes simulated clinical scenarios that encourage active, hands-on participation through learning stations where students practice essential skills individually, as part of a team, and as the team leader.

Upon successful completion of this entire course, the students receive an AHA ACLS Provider course completion CPR eCard valid for 2 years.

1. Review ACLS Pre-Course Welcome Letter sent to you.

2. Complete ACLS Pre-Course Self Assessment Test found on page ii in the ACLS book and on our web site and bring to class.

Course Options

AHA103 - ACLS Renewal Course
This course is a one-day traditional instructor led course designed for the healthcare provider who is renewing and is confident in their AHA ACLS knowledge and skills. ACLS builds on the foundation of basic life support (BLS) skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. The course highlights high-performance team dynamics and communication; systems of care; recognition of and intervention in cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, acute dysrhythmia, stroke and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

Prerequisites; knowledge of current BLS skills, complete the Pre-Course Assessment in book with a 70% or greater, and have the book present at class. Students must know Pharmacology and be able to read an EKG to pass the course.

Complete the cognitive portion online through the AHA's approved website. EMR then offers the flexibility of scheduling the practice and testing session at one of our regularly scheduled skills checks, or call (972) 235-8330 to schedule your skills check.

*All participants must have the current AHA student required textbook. Renewing participants needing a textbook may purchase one for an additional fee.
