Course Description: This course is designed for personnel working at height, or personnel who use fall prevention and/or protection equipment and systems, or who are responsible for safety at their job sites where fall hazards exist. This course covers the 29 CFR Part 1910 Subpart D, 29 CFR Part 1926 Subpart M, principles of fall protection, components, limitations of fall arrest systems, ANSI Z359, Z490, Z10.32 and EM385-1-1 Standards and policies regarding fall protection.
Students will participate in workshops demonstrating the inspection and use of fall protection equipment, residential construction fall protection, training requirements, and developing a fall protection program. Upon course completion students will have the ability to assess compliance with the OSHA Fall Protection Standard, evaluate installed passive systems and fall arrest systems, and develop and implement fall protection plans. Safety leadership skills will also be addressed. Participants will be expected to complete a fall hazard assessment at the end of the class.
