SAF100 - 10-HR CONSTRUCTION

10-Hr OSHA authorized training is an orientation to occupational safety and health for workers who are involved in construction. This course teaches mandatory, elective and optional training as follows:

Mandatory Topics (6-hr requirement)

SAF102 - 30-HR CONSTRUCTION

SAF104 - 7.5-HR DISASTER SITE WORKER

Volunteers responding to disaster sites are required to complete the OSHA 7.5-hr Disaster Site Worker training prior to entering a disaster site. The prerequisite for this training is completion of the OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr Construction or General Industry Course. This course teaches the following course topics as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Safety Hazards and CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive)
  • Health Hazards and Traumatic Incident Stress Awareness
  • Personal Protective Equipment and Respirator
  • Decontamination
  • Incident Command System
  • Final Exercise
  • Upon completion, students will receive the OSHA sanctioned 7.5-hr wallet card. 

SAF105 - 15-HR DISASTER SITE WORKER

Skilled Laborers responding to disaster sites are required to complete the OSHA 7.5-hr Disaster Site Worker training prior to entering a disaster site. The prerequisite for this training is completion of the OSHA 10-hr or 30-hr Construction or General Industry Course. This course teaches the following course topics as follows:

  • Introduction
  • Incident Command System/Unified Command Systems
  • Safety Hazards

  • CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive)

SAF106 - INCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This course covers an introduction to basic incident/accident investigation procedures and describes incident/accident analysis techniques. The target audience is the employer, manager, employee or employee representative who is involved in conducting incident/accident investigations.

Course topics include definitions and variances, reasons for conducting investigations, roles and responsibilities related to investigations, incident/accident models and processes, reporting, preparedness and system improvement.

SAF108 - BACK INJURY PREVENTION

This course shows your employees proper lifting techniques they can use on and off the job to prevent injuries with this back-safety training program. It helps your employees understand the basic principles of back health as well as common prevention practices.

The course content includes lessons on how the human back works, discussions on various causes of back pain and demonstrations on how to properly perform tasks to prevent back injuries and pain. 

SAF111 - BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS FOR SAFETY & HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

Classes cover persuasive, strategic and organizational communications. This program is designed to help students develop strong oral, written and interpersonal communication competencies required to have a successful and effective Safety & Health program. The class emphasizes the skills needed to present important Safety & Health information to all levels of an organization and execute engaging collaboration with management teams.

SAF113 - CONFINED SPACE FOR THE COMPETENT PERSON

Course topics include the requirements of the OSHA Confined Space regulations, EM385-1-1, and ANSI Standards. EMR 's program is aimed at our clients’ necessities and will be adjusted to meet their needs.

The aim is to provide the student with a broad knowledge of hazards associated with confined space entry and look beyond the apparent assessment of space. Content includes the essential elements including but not limited to program development, safety and health hazards associated with confined space entry, evaluation, prevention, and abatement of hazards, assignment of responsibilities, preparation, planning, evaluating, communication, and rescue retrieval.

SAF114 - CRANES FOR THE COMPETENT PERSON

This course covers the best practices in crane and derrick operation using the OSHA Cranes and Derricks in Construction Rule as a guide. Course topics include hazards associated with crane assembly and disassembly, types of cranes, lifting concepts, rigging and wire rope, signaling, employee qualifications and training, and     maintenance, repair, and inspection requirements. Students will participate in workshops to reinforce concepts of safe crane operation. Upon course completion students will have the ability to identify the types of cranes and their components and attachments, determine safe operating conditions, and recognize common  violations of OSHA Standards.

SAF115 - DEMOLITION

This course focuses on demolition work involving many of the same hazards associated with construction work; however, it focuses and highlights added dangers due to unknown factors. The course concentrates on awareness and centers on assessment and critical countermeasures to unknowns. This course trains personnel involved in a demolition project the need to be fully aware of hazards and the safety precautions and critical thinking accessible to control them.

SAF116 - EM385-1-1

This course covers the EM385-1-1 prescribed Safety and Health requirements for all Corps of Engineers activities and operations. The course is directed at compliance with the US Army Corps of Engineers Contractor Safety and Health Requirements and provides an in-depth exploration of the EM 385-1-1 guidelines. A must know for anyone contracting service, supply, research and development, construction, hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste site investigation, design, or remediation activities. EMR 's program is aimed at our clients’ necessities and will be adjusted to meet their needs under the requirements. We highly recommend a Hazard Analysis and or Position (s) Analysis be performed before the start of any training. Based on the needs the course is offered 16, 24, or 40 hours.

SAF118 - FALL PROTECTION FOR THE COMPETENT PERSON

This course is designed for personnel working at height, or personnel who use fall prevention and/or protection equipment and systems, or who are responsible for safety at their job sites where fall hazards exist. This course covers the 29 CFR Part 1910 Subpart D Standards and 29 CFR Part 1926 Subpart M Standards for construction and an overview of fall protection methods. Course topics include principles of fall protection, components and limitations of fall arrest systems. Includes ANSI Z359, Z490 and Z10.32 and EM385-1-1 Standards and policies regarding fall protection.

Students will participate in workshops demonstrating the inspection and use of fall protection equipment, residential construction fall protection, training requirements, and developing a fall protection program. Upon course completion students will have the ability to assess compliance with the OSHA Fall Protection Standard, evaluate installed passive systems and fall arrest systems, and develop and implement fall protection plans. Safety leadership skills will also be addressed. Participants will be expected to complete a fall hazard assessment at the end of the class.

SAF119 - FIRE SAFETY & EMERGENCY EVACUATION

This course covers OSHA requirements for emergency action and fire protection plans. Course topics include purpose and requirements of emergency action and fire prevention plans, elements of emergency evacuation plans, and features of design and maintenance of emergency exit routes. Students will participate in workshops pertaining to the development of emergency action plans. Upon course completion students will have the ability to list the elements of an emergency action plan and emergency   evacuation floor plans, recognize violations of OSHA exit route requirements, determine whether their organization requires an emergency action plan, and develop and implement workplace emergency action and fire protection plan.

SAF120 - GHS HAZARD COMMUNICATIONS (HazCom)

OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard, also known as "Right to Know Law," or HazCom is in Federal Regulation (29 CFR 1910.1200).  OSHA made changes to modify the Standard and align it with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS), a worldwide standard in 2012.  The regulation requires chemical manufacturers and employers to communicate chemical hazard information to employees.  

This course will cover the Standard, the company written control programs, safety data sheets (SDS), labeling, and hazard classifications, and associated pictograms,  the identification of risks of exposure to hazardous chemicals,  controls, and PPE.

SAF121 - H2S HYDROGEN SULFIDE

Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a colorless gas with a strong odor of rotten eggs. Exposure to hydrogen sulfide may irritate the eyes and respiratory system and even cause death.  Workers need to be trained and aware of the dangers without exception.

Hydrogen sulfide can affect employees in many industries including but not limited to factory workers,  petroleum and natural gas workers, construction, drilling and refinery, wastewater treatment, agricultural, plumbing, and landfills.

This course will provide the latest information and direction to your employees, so they are informed, respect the danger,  and know how to protect themselves.

SAF122 - HAZARD ASSESSMENT

Hazard Assessment involves inspecting a facility for compliance and classifying the potential hazards that employees can confront while working. One of the essential elements in determining a company program requirements is conducting an assessment which will decide what risks are present or are likely to be present and what training controls and protection must be instituted. The best solution is to employ the "new eyes" of our consultants who are not in your operation daily and will see many hazards missed by those who work there regularly.

SAF123 - LOCKOUT/TAGOUT

Developing and executing a control of hazardous energy Lockout/Tagout program (LOTO) 29 CFR, part 1910.147, for the protection of workers who perform servicing and maintenance activities on machinery and equipment is a significant responsibility of every employer.

Students will learn types of hazardous energy, detection of hazards, inspection, training, implementing control measures, and the importance of written isolation procedures, development and implementing a written Lockout/Tagout program using the OSHA Control of Hazardous Energy Standard.

SAF124 - MACHINE GUARDING - 8 Hour

This course incorporates the OSHA Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards and outlines the process to identify, select and adequately safeguard machinery to protect employees and others in the work area and deliver suitable training in safe work practices.

Any machine part, function, or process which may cause injury must be safeguarded. When the operation of a machine or accidental contact with it can hurt the operator or others in the vicinity, the hazards must be either controlled or eliminated. Even the most extensive safeguarding system cannot offer adequate protection unless a worker knows how to use it and why. Specific and detailed training is a vital part of an effort to provide safeguarding against machine hazards to prevent injury. 

SAF125 - MOCK OSHA INSPECTIONS

OSHA fines can run from $7,000 to $70,000 per violation.  Be prepared, make sure you and your team know what to do, your rights and responsibilities if an OSHA inspector arrives at your site.  Our experienced Safety & Health professionals can come to your site providing experience and information that will ensure you are prepared.

SAF126 - PPE COMMUNICATIONS FOR SUPERVISORS

One of the most important elements of any Safety & Health program is the proper selection, use, and care of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), but if the employees are not using it they will end up getting hurt. This course is focused on teaching Supervisors how to deal with noncompliance.  Topics include leadership, policies, vehicles for communication, enforcement, and behavioral transformation management.

SAF127 - RECORDKEEPING

Make sure you comply with the recent final Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rule (29CFR 1904), which takes effect on February 25, 2019, and rescinds significant portions of its electronic reporting rule.  

A core safety program element for almost all employers; this curriculum incorporates all aspects and compliance for identifying, completing maintaining, posting and reporting OSHA required recordkeeping requirements and forms. 

SAF128 - SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS

Establishing a Safety Management System has a direct and positive impact on the ability of the organization to operate more efficiently and effectively as an essential part of an organization’s business framework. This course covers the integral part of Safety Management Systems used to control the Safety and Health programs of organizations.  

Safety Management Systems used to control the Safety and Health programs of organizations are comprehensive management systems designed to manage safety elements in the workplace and assist in incorporating safety into all functions of the organization. The content will review organized systems, standards and applications, explore commonalities, and plans and techniques for development used by various industries to manage risk.

SAF129 - SAFETY SKILLS FOR SUPERVISORS

This course focuses on strong skills for the Supervisors to achieve maximum performance with a workforce that is filled with different types of people with varying backgrounds, experience, and skill sets.

The content will concentrate on leadership skills, communications, planning and organization, utilization of resources, taking initiative,  goals, metrics, conflict resolution, stress management, coaching, and much more to assist the Supervisor in achieving the organization’s mission.

SAF130 - SCAFFOLDING FOR THE COMPETENT PERSON

Throughout the construction industry Scaffolds are used in many forms.  Applying OSHA’s construction Scaffold Standards, 29CFR part 1926.451 as a guide, the course covers the requirements for competent construction and use of scaffolding.  

Students will participate and learn the fundamental concepts of safe scaffolding,  types of scaffolds and their components, how to determine secure assembly, use, disassembly and identify common violations of OSHA standards.

SAF131 - WORKPLACE EXPOSURES

This course concentrates on giving the student the insight and knowledge to identify and eliminate or control workplace hazards & exposures and methods of determining how to implement reasonable and adequate control solutions.This course will include the Hierarchy of Controls Theory, prevention through design strategy, engineering, administrative, PPE controls and how to implement feasible, cost-effective, and practical solutions.

SAF132 - WORKPLACE SAFETY

Workplace safety is a science and an art. Creating a safe work site is based on how thoroughly the people at all levels of the operation understand the safety & health standards and how those standards are implemented and practiced in the daily work environment. 

The student will learn and participate in discussions about the application and art of getting the employees involved in becoming active members of workplace safety efforts and sharing in the workplace success. The science, resources and application of safety and health standards and best practices will be covered.

SAF133 - WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

With homicide currently, the fourth-leading cause of fatal occupational injuries in the United States workplace violence is a significant concern for employers and employees nationwide, your Safety & Health Program is not complete without addressing workplace violence.

OSHA defines workplace violence as "any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening, disruptive behavior that occurs at the work site. It ranges from threats and verbal harassment to physical assaults and even homicide."  There are currently no specific OSHA standards for workplace violence, however under the General Duty Clause, Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are required to provide their employees with a place of employment that is “free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm."  Training is a crucial element to ensure your employees are informed of the dangers and know what to do should threats occur.

SAF135 - RESPIRATORY PROGRAM

This course covers the OSHA standard 29CFR part 1910.134 requirements for the establishment, maintenance, and monitoring of a respiratory protection program.

Course topics include terminology, OSHA Respiratory Protection Standards, NIOSH certification, respiratory protection programs, and medical evaluation requirements. Program highlights include workshops on respirator selection, qualitative and quantitative fit testing, and the use of respiratory protection and support equipment.  Upon course, completion students will have the ability to identify and describe the elements of a respiratory protection program, the proper selection, use, and inspection of respiratory protection, protection factors, and evaluate compliance with OSHA Standards.
